Invisible, perhaps, but real—for sure! The Holy Spirit is probably the least understood person of the Trinity. Among the myths and the mistaken concepts that are shared, the Holy Spirit has been described as a force, a ghost, and an incidental figure that appears momentarily and unexpectedly, and disappears just as quickly. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is vital for the church to know the Spirit, learn to relate to the Spirit, and understand how He manifests Himself.
When Jesus was leaving the earth, He promised an advocate and that He would not leave His disciples as orphans but would send the Holy Spirit. He said that the Spirit would be our Helper and would be known as the Spirit of Truth (John 14:15-18).
The Holy Spirit has incredible characteristics that we see in the Bible and affects our lives as believers in amazing ways. This week we will reflect on the different ways that the Holy Spirit affects us as believers—One of the most amazing gifts that Jesus ever gave to the church. The Holy Spirit helps us in our everyday Christian lives, giving direction and helping us live a life that honors, glorifies, pleases God. That still small voice of God.
