God can do extraordinary things in the lives of ordinary people who are willing to trust God with what they have. Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you just didn’t know what to do? Maybe you had a really important decision to make. Maybe it was a major crisis. Maybe one of your children is out of control. Maybe if you’re like me, you went and did something foolish. Not only are you not sure how you got into this mess in the first place, you have no idea how to get out of it either.
Christian Pop singer Matthew West knows how you feel—and he wrote a song with lyrics that went something like this: “I woke up this morning. Saw a world full of trouble now. Thought, how’d we ever get so far down, and how’s it ever gonna turn around. So I turned my eyes to Heaven, I thought, “God, why don’t You do something?” You ever been here before? — Kind of feels for some like looking at our society today. Here and now.
I don’t know about you, but when I get into these situations, I feel desperate. In fact, I wonder if I’m even going to make it through at all. If you’ve been there or are there, then I bet you can relate to one of the people we’re going to study this week in 2 Kings Chapter 4. Join us Sunday at Sedona United Methodist Church as the Rev. Fred Mast shares a message entitled “Why Don’t You Do Something—I Did, I Sent You!”
