“I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever. I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever. Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure your greatness.” (Psalm 145:1-3)
Author Margaret Feinberg is quoted as saying in her blog, “Christ’s birth is a holy exclamation point that God is with us in a real and tangible way! And that reality awakens a tremendous sense of wonder from within us. We were created by God to experience this wonder. It’s woven into the very fiber of our being—it is an innate part of who we were formed to be, and how we were expected to live.”
Some of the Christmas expectation and excitement seems to diminish as we move to this side of Christmas. Almost a year away it’s hard to garner the energy and anticipation we have lived the past couple of months. God has come to live among us in the form of a precious little baby boy, and just as infants grow to be grown-ups, Christmas rapidly becomes like an image in the rear view mirror—become more of a distant memory as we return to the journey of our everyday lives.
Isaiah 29:14 expresses God’s desire to remain in the forefront those everyday lives. “Therefore, once more I will astound the people with wonder upon wonder.” God is bursting at the seams to display His glory, power and might in your life. Offering the greatest gift of all—Himself! Join us this week at Sedona United Methodist Church as we continue our Christmas celebration singing some of our favorite carols, and our message will be “Living Wonderstruck”.
