IMG_1024Dear Friends and Family of Sedona UMC:

What an “Incredible Weekend” we have in store at SUMC— It all starts Saturday Morning at 8am—Our Annual Sedona UMC Parking Lot Sale!!!

We have over 30 participants selling all kinds of items. There will be music, great food, arts, crafts, treasures, awesome fellowship, and lots of “SON”shine. Did I mention there will be food?—We Methodists love food—really who doesn’t love food!

Our SET Team, with the help of some friends, has been planning and working for months and this “Sale” will be our biggest yet. Invite your family & friends—the event runs from 8am to 2PM so spread the word and let’s fill our parking lot with people form our community all day long.

Help-Wanted—If you are available and want some exercise, we could use a number of helping hands (because many hands make lite work) at 2PM to help with final clean-up and preparations for Sunday worship.

Also, on Saturday morning (May 6th) all men are invited to join us for a delicious SUMC Men’s Breakfast at 8:00 a.m. at The Golden Goose Restaurant in West Sedona. Our featured guest speaker will be Dick Sitts who will discuss and share with us a perspective on the future of China. All the men of our Verde Valley Communities are welcomed and encouraged to attend—invite, pick-up, and bring a friend! Don’t forget you’re can food donation.

On Sunday morning Pastor Fred will share an inspiring teaching entitled “Hearing the Voice of the Good Shepherd” based on the 20th Chapter of John’s Gospel. We all desire good leadership—Good shepherds to lead us in and out of green pastures. We come to church hoping to hear and experience it, we vote hoping to elect it, we apply for jobs hoping to work for it, and we go to school hoping to be educated by it. The 10th chapter of the Gospel of John I believe holds a great answer for us.

Immediately following worship we will gather together in our Fellowship Hall for our weekly fellowship and greeting time which will feature lots of great snacks and the best coffee anywhere! All are invited to come and make a new friendship with the “friendliest congregation” anywhere.

Summer is shaping up to be a very special time in the life of this congregation this year and would be a great opportunity for each and every one of us to Invite, Pick Up, and Bring a friend to Church, an event, or a one of the many mission and ministry opportunities SUMC offers. I feel so blessed to be a part of this great congregation and faith community and I pray you do too! Together, we have the opportunity to grow and make a tremendous difference in this community and beyond.

See you all this weekend—come and soak up some “SON”shine—

Grace & Peace,

Pastor Fred
