“God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:16-17)
It is one of the most often quoted scriptures in the entire bible. God’s love for us is what motivated Him to send Christ into the world to save us. Christ paid for our sins, which had separated us from Him. This sacrifice not only brings us peace with God, it also brings us into a personal, loving relationship with Him. God’s atoning love through Christ is the source of all our spiritual blessings. Jesus Christ is the manifestation of the love of God—“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Herein is love, not that we loved God but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4:9-10)
But how do we adequately describe God’s love for us—is it possible to comprehend? Join us this week at Sedona UMC as we continue our Advent Journey and Pastor Fred Mast delivers a message titled “A Gift Beyond Description” focusing on the indescribable gift of Jesus Christ coming into the world. Sunday mornings we enter a time of spirit filled worship at 9:30 am featuring meaningful times of prayer, joyous music, and spirit led life messages that will help move you closer in your relationship with Jesus Christ. Our worship is upbeat and lively, we laugh, we cry, and most of all we welcome all as family.
