To all ye Pilgrims, Inasmuch as the great Father has given us this year an abundant harvest of corn, wheat, peas, squashes and garden vegetables, and has made the forests to abound with game and the sea with fish and clams, and inasmuch as he has protected us, has spared us from pestilence and disease, has granted us freedom to worship God according to the dictates of our own conscience; now I, your magistrate, do proclaim that all ye Pilgrims, with your wives and ye little ones, do gather at ye meeting house, on ye hill, between the hours of 9 and 12 in the day time, on Thursday November ye 29th of the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and twenty three, and the third year since ye Pilgrims landed on ye Plymouth rock, there to listen to ye pastor and render thanksgiving to ye Almighty God for all His blessings.

~Proclamation made by Governor Bradford in 1623, 3 years after the Pilgrims settled at Plymouth.

Can you believe it? This coming Thursday is Thanksgiving – ALREADY! A single day, in which we like those early Pilgrims, set aside time in our busy schedules to give thanks to God. Come and join us this Sunday at Sedona UMC as Pastor Fred Mast delivers a sermon entitled “A Proper Perspective on Thanksgiving” based on a Hymn of Praise found in Psalm 100 and Paul’s letter from the 5th chapter of Ephesians which instructs us that this act of thanksgiving shouldn’t be just one day a year—but instead it should be a continual daily practice and attitude. Sunday mornings we enter spirit filled worship at 9:30 am featuring meaningful times of prayer, joyous music, and spirit led life messages that will help move you closer in your relationship with Jesus Christ. Our worship is upbeat and lively, we laugh, we cry, and most of all we welcome all as family. You are invited to stay after worship and join us for a time of fellowship and our “Annual Pre-Thanksgiving Feast” featuring a complete turkey dinner with all the fixings and delicious homemade pies. This is a free event sponsored by our Special Events Team and held in our fellowship hall so bring the whole family.

All are invited to our monthly Family Movie Night on Friday night, November 18th beginning at 6:00p.m. Our featured film this month is “Ring the Bell” a story about a hard-charging sports agent who has it all. But on his latest mission to sign a high school baseball superstar, he becomes stranded in a small town where the simplicity of life—and the faith of the people—stand in stark contrast to his own fast-paced, win-at-all-costs mindset. We will be serving hamburgers and hot dogs and lots of great food as always so come hungry. This is a FREE event open to the entire community, so invite your friends and join in the fun. There will be food, fun, and fellowship for all ages.
