Imagine yourself being there in the streets of Jerusalem over 2000 years ago. There was a great crowd there that day that had come to celebrate and to eat a great feast of the Passover. People had come for miles–men, women, and children.  It was something like what we see in Times Square on New Year’s Eve!  And now you hear that Jesus, the man you have heard great stories about, the one who was healing the sick, and bringing sight to the blind, was to be the grand marshal of the parade.

“The next day a great crowd had come to the Passover Feast and heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, Hosanna!   Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!   Blessed is the King of Israel!  Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written, Do not be afraid, O Daughter of Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt…” (John 12:12-15)

Come this Sunday and join in the Palm Sunday celebration, see a procession of the palms, join in singing wonderful songs, hear wonderful words of remembrance of the one we stand on the parade route and celebrate. Hosanna! Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!  Join Sedona United Methodist Church for Holy Week events:  Maundy Thursday Supper and Service of Holy Communion on March 24th at 6:30pm–a Feast of Friends as we begin the evening with a light potluck dinner in the theme of the Last Supper followed by a special service.  Good Friday, March 25th, at 7pm will be a dramatic and powerful “Service of Shadows and Remembrance” as we walk with Jesus through the final hours of His earthly life.  You do not want to miss this service as we prepare for His glorious and incredible resurrection on Easter Sunday!  Easter Sunday traditional service is at 9:30.
