OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAMay 10th is a day that many celebrate Mother’s Day.  It’s important to remember our moms but, in many cases, the people who cared for us and continue to do this.  For many of us, it is a friend, a spouse, a child, and even our church.  It can be the community of the church that provides not only spiritual support, but also the love, friendship, companionship, and pursuit of common goals.  Sedona United Methodist Church, at it’s best, cares about each other deeply and the community we live it.  Distractions happen as in the lives of us all–good ones and bad ones–but our goals remain the same if they are established with love and care and are consistent with what we learn from Jesus.

This Sunday, May 10th, please join worship at 9:30 and return for a wonderful concert at 2pm.  We are delighted to present our own Dr. Lily Chou at the piano.  She is a classically trained pianist (and mother and Methodist minister but, even more important, a caregiver and supporter to all).  Dr. Chou’s concert is free with a goodwill offering taken after dazzling the crowd with Rachmaninoff!  These pieces are particularly good for children as they are beautiful and often fast and furious.  The concert will include all of he biggies–Mozart, Chopin, Schubert, Hayden, Bach.

On May 18th at 7pm, the wonderful music continues with a concert of the Phoenix Boys Choir.  Come see the pride of Phoenix on their Spring tour.  The PBC has four levels depending on age, ability, and training.  Our show will feature the Town Choir–boys between 8-12 who are about to graduate to the top Tour Choir level.  It is an honor to be promoted and these boys are astonishingly good and fun to watch.  The concert is FREE with a free will offering taken during the concert.  Both concerts will be very popular so early seating is important.  SUMC is located at 110 Indian Cliffs Road off the Back O’Beyond roundabout of Route 179 in Sedona.  Did you know that you can listen to a sermon or service that you missed?  They are online!  Visit our website www.sedonaumc.org or call 928-282-1780 for more information on worship, to hear past services, for missions, bible study (we have many groups tailored to the way you like to learn), Sunday School, youth events, and any of the many activities of our church.  If you need a ride to church, call us!  We have people in every area very happy to give you a ride.
