At Sedona United Methodist Church, March 22 marks the fifth Sunday of Lent as we prepare introspectively for Holy Week and that final walk of Christ’s in human form. Join Pastor Jimelvia Martin in this journey toward the Cross. On March 22nd, Sam Grandaw will sing En Priere by Gabriel Faure’ and Samual Barber’s The Crucifixion, two very powerful pieces, accompanied by Dr. Lily Chou. Sam is a college student from Sedona studying at Chapman University and sings tenor. Dr. Chou is a renowned pianist and Methodist minister and currently serving as music director for Sedona UMC.
The kids of Sunday School have made their decisions regarding the money raised for Heifer International by the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper! They were able to afford the following sent through Heifer to indigent families around the world: 3 flocks of chicks, a goat, a flock of ducks, a trio of rabbits, a pig, a flock of geese and a flock of Hope (chicks, ducks, and/or geese). So many will benefit. Good job to Education and Mission committees and especially to the Sunday School children. Remember our Men’s Bible study Holy Boldness held Wednesday mornings at 9. They seek to discover God’s message to the 21st Century Christian, grappling with issues of faith versus works, law and grace, sin and righteousness, judgment and justification. UMW circles meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Holy Spirit bible study meets every other Saturday at 10 am. Monday nights, a men’s and women’s study group meets to discuss “The Invisible War–Winning the Battle of Temptation.” Call for more information.
