Followers of Jesus are called to be prayerful. The regular practice of prayer makes us more fully aware of God’s presence, tunes our hearts to God’s will & purpose for our lives, and allows the power of God to move through us in response to real human need. In Mark 9:28-29, the disciples ask Jesus why they were unable to cast out a spirit that had possessed a boy. Jesus explains, “This kind can only come out through prayer.” We can do good without praying, but we will soon discover our own human limitations. Living prayerfully allows us to move beyond those limitations and participate as we draw on God’s strength to move mountains and transform lives.
