Sedona UMC altarFor centuries, followers of Jesus have debated the roles of faith and works in our salvation.  We know that we are saved by grace through faith–that salvation is a free gift, offered to us without price, received by any and all who respond to God in faith.  We also know that faith without works is dead–that the good works we do are the evidence of, and the good fruit that comes from, our response to God in faith.  Christians miss the mark when we try to earn our salvation through our good works, but we also miss the mark when we dismiss the necessity of good works.  This Sunday, we’ll consider the tension between faith and works as we seek to balance the two in the new life Jesus offers us.

Please join Sedona United Methodist Church for worship on Sunday, October 6th at 9:30 am as Rev. Matt Ashley shares the message “Finding the Balance.”  Sedona UMC is located at 110 Indian Cliffs Road, just off the Back O’Beyond roundabout on Route 179 in Sedona.  Nursery and Sunday School every week and all are welcome!  Our Relay for Life team was the best ever this year raising $7000 to contribute to the overall American Cancer Society cause and dedicated to Audrey Bladt, a dear friend who we lost this year.  We also have a wonderful choir that meets Thursdays at 6:30 (you can join just to sing for the Christmas season).  ESOL is Tuesday evenings.  We have bible studies and a men’s group, United Methodist Women, yoga and hiking.  You don’t have to be a member to join any group.  Call 928-282-1780 or check out our website www.sedonaumc.org.
