Relay For Life coming up in September! Please stop by the table in the Narthex after this service to see how YOU CAN HELP our SUMC team in the Fight Against Cancer! Relay Luminaria Ceremony: After dark, about 8 PM, we dim the lights, and during this very moving ceremony, we honor our loved ones, friends and neighbors who have been touched by cancer and, we remember those lost to the disease. Candles are lit inside bags bearing their names and the entire High School football field is encircled with Luminaria. Anyone participating in this aspect of the program cannot help but come away with a better understanding of the pervasiveness of this disease. Cancer Factoid: Your American Cancer Society is the nation’s largest private, not-for-profit, non-government source of funds for scientists looking for cures. $4.6M is spent on grants in Arizona, $27M in the Great Western Division and nationwide $462M covering 932 grants!
