CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
The Sedona UMC offers a variety of opportunities for individuals to strengthen their faith through Christian education:
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Each Sunday a well-equipped nursery is available for the very young. Our nursery teacher, a member of our staff, has age-appropriate, Christian-based activities and music for the children. Sunday school classes are also offered for both "lower" elementary (grades 1-4) and "upper" elementary (grades 5-8) during the worship service.
After worship each Sunday at 10:30a.m., the Adult Church School meets in the Conference Room.
The Alpha Course is offered in sessions several times each year. This is a 10-week practical introduction to the Christian Faith. The program is offered weely with dinner, group teaching, small-group discussions and includes a week-end retreat. This is a program for those who wonder:
- Christianity: boring, untrue and irrelevant?
- Who is Jesus?
- Why did Jesus die?
- How can I be sure of my faith?
- Why and how should I read the Bible?
- Why and how do I pray?
- How does God guide us?
- Who is the Holy Spirit?
- What does the Holy Spirt do?
- How can I resist evil?
- Why and how should I tell others?
- Does God heal today?
- What about the Church?
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Each summer the Sedona UMC hosts a themed Vacation Bible School for children 4 years through 12 years. The program is typically one week - Monday through Friday - in the evening with dinner provided for the participants. It is customary to "join forces" with one or more churches in Sedona for our Vacation Bible School.
