This Sunday is Palm Sunday, a day in which Christian worshippers around the globe celebrate the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem—The crowds praised Jesus enthusiastically because they believed he would overthrow Rome—The promised Messiah foretold in the writings of Zechariah.
On this Sunday of celebration, the excitement quickly spread throughout the whole city, hitting a fever pitch. People even threw down their cloaks on the path where Jesus rode as an act of homage and submission. The shouts of “Hosanna” meant “save now,” and the palm branches symbolizing goodness and victory.
The Bible says in Psalm 22:3 that He lives and dwells in our praises. This is the mystery and the miracle of the breakthrough power and presence of God when we worship! When we worship, we affirm the truth of God’s Word, and it is being rooted deep in our hearts.
Every person is created to be a worshiper. God dwells and manifests Himself in the praises of His people. Worship is a declaration of our weakness and God’s strength. When we worship God, He is at work doing incredible and powerful things. We get refocused, refreshed and refueled; we find unspeakable joy and indescribable peace.
We discover the breakthrough strength of Jesus Christ, which enables us to walk in His truth, live in His presence and watch Him fight our battles for us. It is how we can put the beauty of the Gospel on display, receive His many blessings and at the same time be a blessing to others.
