If we look to Scripture, we can see that having an encounter with Jesus can change everything. That was certainly the case for the two disciples who encountered Jesus on the Road to Emmaus. Once their eyes were opened to being in the risen Christ’s presence, their lives would never be the same. Though it was getting dark on that same road they had travelled earlier that afternoon it could be a dangerous journey to make in the dark—but they just had to get back and share their news.

Jesus wants to encounter you so that he can show you the same thing he showed Cleophus and his companion on that Road to Emmaus—Who you are, and who He is. It is only in an encounter with Jesus Christ that we truly discover who we really are, and we discover who Christ really is. And its only Christ who can teach us, and more importantly inspire us to things we could never dream possible of our own accord.

As we look to other figures in the Bible, we can see that those who encountered Jesus were able to do the impossible through Him. Peter walked on water, John had the strength to stay by Jesus even at the foot of the Cross, Philip healed those who were paralyzed, and the Apostle Paul changed the world. Something happens when we meet Jesus face to face. Join us this week at Sedona United Methodist Church as the Rev. Fred Mast shares an inspirational hope filled message entitled “Inspired to Change the World”.
