Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. . .” [John10:7] Doors are one of the most common things in the world—There are so many kinds and types of doors. There are ornate doors in churches and cathedrals, steel doors on the vault of a bank, canvas doors on tents, and every other kind imaginable in homes throughout the world. Doors can be expensive or inexpensive, strong or weak, beautiful or very plain, but they all have one thing in common they are entries!

A door provides an invitation to enter. If we want to enter a place as an invitee, we usually enter through the front door. A door is the way invited guests enter into a home or a place of business. We are all invited to enter the kingdom of Heaven, but if we are going to enter the kingdom or the body of Christ, we must enter through ”the door”.

Jesus tells us that HE IS the door for the sheep! In Jesus’ metaphor He is the door through which the sheep enter the safety of God’s fold and go out to the rich pasture of His blessing. It is through Him that the lost can approach the Father. Jesus invites all to enter through Him! Join us this week at Sedona United Methodist Church as Rev. Fred Mast continues a sermon series based on the seven “I Am” sayings of Jesus, this week in a message entitled, “Come On In”.
