“Jesus has prepared the way and has made following our destiny possible, whereas we are helpless by ourselves. We can find and fulfill our purpose by responding to the clear, simple call of Jesus Christ: “Follow Me.” He is the doorway to fulfilling our destiny, where our divine design and God-ordained purpose live in perfect harmony.”

― Charles Swindoll

A recent survey asked participants to reflect on the following six questions: 1) Name the five wealthiest people in the world; 2) Name the last five Heisman trophy winners; 3) Name the last five winners of the Miss America competition; 4) Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize; 5) Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress; 6) Name the last 10 World Series winners? As they struggled coming up with very many answers to those six questions, they were also asked to reflect on six additional questions: 1) List a few teachers who aided your journey through school; 2) Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time; 3) Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile; 4) Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special; 5) Think of five people you enjoy spending time with; 6) Name six heroes whose stories have inspired you?  The people who have made a difference in our lives are not the ones with the most or best credentials, the most money or the most awards. They are the ones that care the most. They are the ones who have been involved in your life. Join us this week at Sedona UMC as Pastor Fred concludes a sermon series “The Power of One” with a sermon entitled, “It All Begins with Jesus,” looking at the incredible difference Jesus Christ makes in our lives and in our world today.

Sunday mornings we enter the spirit of worship at 9:30 a.m. featuring meaningful times of prayer, joyous music, and life messages that will help move you closer in your relationship with Christ. Our worship is upbeat and lively, we laugh, we cry, and most of all we welcome all as family. And our fellowship time immediately following worship features the best coffee, sweet treats, and friendship you will find anywhere. Plan to make a morning of it because once you’re here you won’t want to leave—guaranteed! Find us at 110 Indian Cliffs Road off the Back O’Beyond roundabout on route 179 in Sedona.  You and your entire family are invited to join us on Monday, October 31st from 5pm to 7pm for our Second Annual—“Trunk R Treat.” This is a free community event held in our front parking lot with many of our members dressing up and decorating their trunks to provide a safe and family friendly opportunity for kids to Trick-R-Treat. We will have free hot dogs, chips, drinks, and desserts—and lots of candy for all so come and join in this fun event.  Like us on Facebook and visit our website at www.sedonaumc.org.  Are you in need of prayer or know someone who is?
