“Jesus has prepared the way and has made following our destiny possible, whereas we are helpless by ourselves. We can find and fulfill our purpose by responding to the clear, simple call of Jesus Christ: “Follow Me.” He is the doorway to fulfilling our destiny, where our divine design and God-ordained purpose live in perfect harmony.”
― Charles Swindoll
A recent survey asked participants to reflect on the following six questions: 1) Name the five wealthiest people in the world; 2) Name the last five Heisman trophy winners; 3) Name the last five winners of the Miss America competition; 4) Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize; 5) Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress; 6) Name the last 10 World Series winners? As they struggled coming up with very many answers to those six questions, they were also asked to reflect on six additional questions: 1) List a few teachers who aided your journey through school; 2) Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time; 3) Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile; 4) Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special; 5) Think of five people you enjoy spending time with; 6) Name six heroes whose stories have inspired you? The people who have made a difference in our lives are not the ones with the most or best credentials, the most money or the most awards. They are the ones that care the most. They are the ones who have been involved in your life. Join us this week at Sedona UMC as Pastor Fred concludes a sermon series “The Power of One” with a sermon entitled, “It All Begins with Jesus,” looking at the incredible difference Jesus Christ makes in our lives and in our world today.
