Mark Twain once said, “The two most important days of your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why you were born.” The whole of Naaman’s fascinating story revolves around the nameless. One of the most amazing things about Biblical stories is their sheer restraint. With one or two deft strokes a scene is painted, a character is sketched, or an incident described. There is truly something astonishing in the terse poetry of the Bible.
Join us this week at Sedona UMC as Pastor Fred continues a series of sermons entitled “The Power of One” looking at the life of a simple nameless Jewish servant who was enslaved in a foreign land, yet who displayed loyalty and compassion toward her masters by sharing her faith with them. His story from 2 Kings tells of One BOLD little Girl who was instrumental in healing a world military leader—not just physically—but spiritually as well. But, if you blink, you might just miss the most important part of this story.
Sunday mornings we gather at 9:30 am with our spirit filled worship which offers moving times of prayer and devotion, joyous music, and life messages designed to help you walk in a close and personal relationship with Christ. Worship is upbeat and lively–we laugh, we cry, and most of all we welcome one another all as family. Worship is always followed by a Fellowship time of greeting featuring the best coffee, sweet treats and friendship anywhere. Plan to make a morning of it because once you’re here you won’t want to leave. We look forward to meeting and greeting and welcoming you!
There are so many exciting things happening at Sedona UMC. Sunday school is offered for the kids during worship as well as a staffed nursery. Adult Sunday school meets at 10:45 am. We also offer a Men’s Bible Study on Wednesday mornings at 9 am, and our Women’s Bible Study meets on Thursday mornings at 9:45 am. If evenings work better, join our Monday evening group that gathers at 6 pm. There is something for everyone and our groups would love to welcome you. Mark your calendars for Friday October 7th at 6 pm and make plans to join us for a FREE Community Concert featuring the band “Crosby Lane.” Crosby Lane is comprised of former Country music artist, Tonja Rose; multi-Dove Award writer/arranger and long-time worship leader, John Lemonis; and his wife, multi-instrumentalist, Michaela Lemonis. The trio shares a mutual passion for the ministry side of hymns. See more at: http://www.crosbylane.com. Like us on Facebook and visit our website at www.sedonaumc.org.
