Lot’s happening in the life of Sedona UMC again this weekend.
On Friday evening at 6:30PM (Fellowship Hall) you are invited to join us for our Monthly Family Movie Night featuring the film “Old Fashioned” a story about the way courtship used to be—and in the eyes of God is supposed to be. Lots of great snacks and beverages so come hungry (don’t eat dinner) because you will be filled up! Invite a friend or two—this event is free of charge as always.
People seem to have an affinity with climbing mountains? Mountains have always been wrapped in a shroud of mystery, and I guess there’s something there that seems to beckons us. It’s the very same in God’s Word. Mountains are often thought of as places for powerful, personal, and passionate encounters with God.
Have you ever had a mountain-top experience with God? It brings a flow of joy and peace that eclipses any other human experience. A mountain-top experience is “a temporary—uncommon encounter with God that is meant to give us a fresh awareness of His reality and nearness.”
On Sunday morning Pastor Fred Mast concludes a sermon series entitled “Reigniting Our Passion for God” with a sermon titled “I Have Seen the Face of the Captain. This week’s scripture lesson is based on the 9th Chapter of Luke’s Gospel—The Transfiguration of Jesus as Jesus journeys with three of His disciples, Peter, James, and John, and they experience Jesus transfigured in a way that would change them forever.
Come and rediscover who Jesus is for you in your life as we begin our Journey through a Holy Lent. Come and experience the love of God on this Valentine’s weekend—hear the unbelievably beautiful anthem title “Love Changes Everything” our tremendous Chancel Choir has prepared for us.
Come and experience the special way the spirit is working in the midst of our faith community. Come and be a part of something very special happening at Sedona UMC.
Right after worship join us for our Fellowship Time with great coffee, tasty snacks, and wonderful fellowship—make a new friend this week!
Our Wellness Team will offer Blood Pressure Screenings during the fellowship time so take advantage of this great service they provide.
Mark your calendar for a free concert next Sunday 2/21/16 at 3PM as the Halo’s Youth/Young Adult Choirs from our sister church—Dove of the Desert UMC in Glendale, AZ will present “The Song is Alive”.
They are travelling a long way to be with us so please come and support this wonderful group of young people who love God with passion and want to share that passionate love and enthusiasm with all of us. Pastor Fred was blessed to travel and work with this choir and their unbelievably talented director for a number of years and shares “you won’t be disappointed!
See you this weekend—
Grace & Peace,
Pastor Fred
