pancakesMark your calendars now! February 17th, 2015 is the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper at Sedona United Methodist Church.

From 4:30p.m. until 6:30p.m. you are invited to indulge in a delicious pancake supper. The Christian Education Team and the Missions Team have combined for a wonderful evening that will benefit Heifer International.

Some cultures call the day before Ash Wednesday Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, Carnival, etc. But in England, the land of our Methodist roots, the day is called Shrove Tuesday. The word “shrove” means cleansed. Thus good Methodist housewives would cleanse their pantries of those self indulgent foodstuffs in order to prepare their families for the Lenten Season.

In Sedona UMC tradition, we will celebrate the day with Pancakes! We’ll have ham and fruit too. Yum!

We are honored to have the choir from Rainbow Acres join us again this year to perform their wonderful program. The program will begin around 5:30p.m.

Tickets go on sale on Sunday, February 8th after worship or you can purchase your tickets from the church office Monday through Thursday. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children K-8. Children under 5 years are free.  You can pay at the door too!

For more information, please call the church office at 928-282-1780.
